The realm of the night is filled with beings thought only to have existed within our deepest fantasies. What if I told you I'm one of those beings, and what if I also told you I fell in love with another?
Being a lycan nothing appealed to me more than running through the forest at night when the moon was high, my paws on the dirt ground, grey fur keeping me warm from the night chill, my tail swishing up and down, and the sight of the passing trees as I ran. I followed my usual path to a special clearing; it was deep in the forest and was a place I thought no one would ever find. It was the place I went to as a human to relax, and find myself, but as a wolf is was my hunting ground. I broke through the brush I scanned over the area nothing seemed to be out of place, it was clear, green, had a few flowers growing in patches within the middle, and the trees surrounded the perimeter giving the area a circle like shape. As I neared the center a peculiar scent came across me: it was warm, like blood. I rushed to the other side and saw a shadow of a person leaning over what looked like a Doe. I began to growl, and couldn't help but be infuriated. This was my territory, and someone just walked into it killing my game. The shadowy figure stood and turned to me.
"Looks like dessert has presented itself." The voice sounded soft, light, and musical. As the shadow made its way to me, she came out of the darkness and into the light of the moon. It was then that I saw her, she was thin and her features balanced well into her body. Her face was perfect and soft there wasn't a single blemish on it. Her eyes were a crimson red as if they were mimicking the color of the blood on her lips. Her skin pale almost doll like, or more like a corpse that died with its beauty still intact. She had short red hair that seemed to match the color of her eyes. Overall she looked like a goddess from Greek mythology, and left me stunned. She began to approach me and it seemed like she dancing, or gliding her way to me, her movements fluid. Less than a moment later she was standing five feet away yet I didn't snarl, bark, or growl as she began to speak. "Boy, you're one big dog." She giggled slightly.
If I had known about the numerous men and women who fell before this goddess I might have tried to attack, yet as I look back I' am glad I didn't. She leaned over and gazed at one of my pointed ears. "I know what you really are under all that fur and overgrown muscle." She whispered. As I looked up at her I noticed her bloody canines, then took another look at the Doe and, noticed it drained of blood. I instantly knew what she was!
She was a creature of legend a nosferatu, a vampire. I heard her take a sniff of the air, then gasp exhilarated. "Your blood has such a sweet scent I must have a taste!" She licked her bloodied lips, her crimson eyes glowing in the moonlight, and her entire expression screamed bloodlust.
I stared into her eyes and began to feel fear, and I knew I was feeling the same fear as all those who stared into these eyes before me. She began to lean closer, and I found myself unable to move. My ears flattened, my legs began to wobble, and I fell to the ground, and began to whimper. "Good boy, just lie down." She said with a little giggle. As I thought about how I was going to die, I began to feel a spark of anger. That spark quickly turned into a flame, and I began to bark at her, my ears pointing upwards, and my fur's bristles shooting up. The girl folded her arms, and gave me an annoyed look. "Alright look we can do this one of two ways: either we do this my way, or the sadistic way." She said in an exasperated tone.
I began to realize I might not get out of this one.Sure, my lycan blood would protect me from her vampyric venom, but I doubted I could live long after losing six or seven pints of blood.
Then, as if given a signal by an unknown hand a deer walked through the brush and passed through the edge of the clearing. Realizing the opportunity that had just presented itself I wasted no time, and bolted at the animal as fast as my legs could take me. I heard her take a silent step towards me, but then she stopped as if she was waiting for something. To the normal human eye I would have looked like a grey blur, and the deer would have looked like it died of a heart attack at first glance. However if someone took the time to examine the corpse they would have seen the fairly large hole bitten through the abdomen. It was easy for me to tear through the muscle, the flesh, with my fangs. Once done working through the stomach I noticed my plan had worked, there she was drinking the blood from the wound. I couldn't help but begin to feel hungry with all this fresh meat around me and instinctively I took a shredded a part of the leg, beginning to feast on it. The girl stopped her frenzy for a moment and gave me a quick bloody smile. As I noticed this my tail began to wag faster and my tongue rolled out of my mouth a little.
Five minutes later the woman yawned, stretched her arms, and lied down on the grass delicately. I was at a loss I couldn't decide whether I should run away and not look back, or stay with this mysterious girl and risk becoming a midnight snack. A moment later she let out another loud yawn, and I caught a good look at her blood coated canines my choice couldn't have been more clear.
I felt the rush of adrenaline as I sprinted through the forest, fueled by my fear that she could track my scent. I couldn't risk going home, as she might follow me there and hurt my mom, my dad. I had to find some place to hide. I had an idea that would confuse her but I doubted it would work. Half a second later I heard a twig break from behind me. I had to no choice but to put my plan into action and pray to whatever divine entity that was listening for it would work. I quickly turned and started rubbing against each tree I passed, then I turned again repeated the process several times over.
After running for what felt about half a mile I couldn't hear anything anymore, and began to sprint to a river to the north of me. As I ran I kept my senses as keen as they could be praying that she hadn't somehow tracked me.
When I finally reached the river, I stopped running and closed my eyes. I couldn't hear anything outside of the leaves rattling in the wind and the river flowing. All I could smell was the natural scent of forest and river. I relaxed my stance and took a deep breath, walking into the river and begining to roll around in an attempt to wash the deer blood from my fur. It took a few minutes but eventually the dried up blood began to wash down the river and my scent along with it. When I got out of the river I shook the excess water off, and began to shiver.
"Damn this autumn weather." I thought to myself as a harsh wind began to blow, and even with my fur it was still cold. "I need to find somewhere to get warm and rest." I thought to myself. Before I left the river I took a quick drink of water and began to run. The cold air was unforgiving and running didn't help, and I had to find somewhere quick. Thankfully I was near the base of a mountain and some caves were nearby. It didn't take long for me to reach a small cave, where I stopped to recuperate. When I got in I immediately lied down, my paws sore I was cold. Soon I felt my eyes beginning to droop. "No, I must stay awake!" I told myself still lying down my eyes staying on the entrance to the cave. I was beginning to feel even drowsier, so I closed my eyes. "Ok I'll just close my eyes for…" With that I was out.
